B is for Boy. And Bird.

I love this new design! Created for mommy to-be Stephany, who has chosen an amazing assortment of textiles in blues and browns for the baby nursery. I used her fabrics as the inspiration for the invitation and of course, went to town with the bird pattern! Three layers make up the invite with the top being a die cut birdcage, the middle a layer of vellum and the last the actual invitation. Each piece is held together by natural colored jute twine. Paired with the invitation is her registry card, which I printed and then die cut into a bird shape. SO adorable! Thank you hostess Kelly and congratulations Stephany!

PROOFS. Pass it On.

I want to apologize for the very light blog posts as of late! The past few weeks have been so busy with designing and proofing. Designing and proofing.

So today I thought I would share a few proofs of new project in the works. These are ideas and options that I have recently presented to my brides, tailor made for just for them.

I cannot wait to share the finished and complete package of each with you…so stay tuned!

Lace, burlap and twine…done 3 ways.

Can one go wrong with blush, black and ivory?
Custom couture map and silhouette profiles of the bride and groom.

Robins egg blue and gold.
Lace. Luxury. LOVE.

A new interpretation of a former save the date design.
Again, blush, black and ivory. When this package is complete, it is going to be major.

1940′s Vintage inspired invitation in the making.
I am truly obsessing over this design and where it’s headed.

Custom illustrated map for Austin, Texas wedding!
This invitation set is divine. More to come…

New flourish invitation design that I adore.
We have decided to go with something similar but different…and equally as pretty, pretty, pretty.

A Marriage of Sorts: Vintage Spoon Set meets Kitchen Shower Invitation

When RaeAnna asked me to design a kitchen shower invitation incorporating vintage silverware, I immediately thought of the “Dining Room Measuring Spoons” from Anthropologie. So here we have it- “a marriage of sorts”…real life! The invitation turned out simply adorable and incorporates the brides lavender and grey color scheme. Thank you so much RaeAnna for your fabulous inspiration. It was such a joy creating this for you!

BHLDN: New Anthropologie Wedding Line

It is here! Launched today… BHLDN, Urban Outfitters/Anthropologies new bridal line. Now you won’t be able to find these dresses or other goodies in Anthro stores. For now, it is online only. So sad because I would really like to make an actual visit and just sit and stare at the greatness. The brand consists of gowns, special occasion dresses, shoes, veils, and much much more. To share in the Valentine’s Day eye candy, visit the BHLDN site here.

Baby Boy Shower Invitation

It took everything in me to not name this blog post “I Got 5 On It.” Okay, there. I said it.

This day has been long and I figured ending it by sharing a new baby boy shower invitation that is simply adorable would be perfect.

An extra special design for an extra special couple expecting a new addition to the family here soon! Considering the lil’ loved one will be the 5th generation Joseph P. Burchfield,  could a “5″ themed shower be any more fitting? A great mix of typography and the dye cut number five’s for the registry info steal the show on this one. Congratulations over and over Meggan and Jay!!

Colin + Jason: Wedding Invitation

Brand new custom wedding invitation for Colin and Jason…a darling couple tying the knot this April in a romantic garden setting. I have been working with sweet Colin for quite a while on her invitation design. So inspired by her unique ideas, bold color choices and fearless approach to design, I presented her with a number of options and her very first proof just happened to be published in the current issue of D Weddings Magazine!!!

The final look unites Colin’s love for vintage-mod style, organic and recycled materials and classic southern elegance (my all-time personal favorite.)

The thermography printed invitation is paired with a vintage botanical postcard (which the bride was able to incorporate into her cake design!), textured coral band, burlap ribbon and kraft brown envelope. Simply. LOVE. Thank you Colin and Jason!

DIY Shadow Box Frame: Master Bedroom Follow-up Part I

I have always said that if I did not design paper goods, I would be a carpenter. Sounds crazy I know, but I love building things and with a lot of self teaching over the years, have hand-crafted some great pieces that have been simply wonderful for storage and organization.

Most of my DIY endeavors are the result of me searching and scouring every store in town for something I just can’t find, and if by chance I do, it always has that lovely “NOT FOR SALE: DISPLAY ONLY” tag on it. So off I go. The shadow box in my master bedroom makeover was definitely one of those “frustrating shopping experiences turns DIY” projects.

Here are a few of my other favorite pieces that I made in a similar state of mind:

A wonderful table top organizer for office supplies and pretty things.

Shelves in my studio to display invitations and such.  My dear and talented friend Arden
of Arden Prucha Photography took this pic when shooting my home a few months ago. For plenty more visit Arden’s blog!

A lovely organizer for papers and envelopes. I need about 5 more of these.

My greatest, and most life changing, DIY project to date! A lovely wall unit filled with cubbies and
slide-out shelving to store everything from fabric to books.

So, for the first follow up to my master bedroom makeover, I have a DIY tutorial on how to build your own shadow box. I made mine quite large because I wanted to display our wishing tree tags however the same concept applies for any size that you might want to make. As well, while I used a table saw to cut the wood, you could also do this with a hack saw and a miter box (much safer and will cost you about $15 bucks at Lowes).

My favorite Wishing Tree piece of advice (far left): “1. Don’t go to bed angry. 2. Get a housekeeper.”
